I’ve been wanting to paint the bath vanity. I’ve seen the Kraft Maid green cabinets and have been very tempted. I dwelled over the idea for months. I collected paint samples. And this weekend I decided to dive in. So much for a relaxing New Year! My husband gave me the thumbs up, stepped back, and actually let me tackle this project 100% on my own… well until it got to the plumbing. Did I mention that I had to have a new marble vanity top too? Lucky me. Happy New Year!!
The details: primer, paint roller, foam brush, paint brush, painters tape, drop cloths, Olympic paint in ‘Ivy’ for the vanity. Olympic paint in ‘Barefoot Beach’ for the walls. And misc. plumbing stuff that I know nothing about.
The before pictures.
Even Mishu got in on action.
Checking out the disconnected sink drain.
Time for some New Years Celebration. Check out the cheese plate my husband made:
With the vanity paint done it was time to paint the walls.
First coat done and it wasn’t looking very good. And I was ready to throw the toilet out the window. “My” project was becoming very lonely but there wasn’t room for my husband in the bathroom too even if I did need his help. Mishu tried to help but even she was in the way.
I had to stop for a coffee and chocolate break.
It was a very long day. The second coat of paint went on better than the first and since everything was taped at this point I just slopped it on. I called it quits, went outside to breathe some fumes and seal the marble vanity top as my friend Dana said I should do so it doesn’t stain. Do I sound salty? I couldn’t move by the end of the day and went to bed at 9 PM.
Howard plumbed for a good part of the day. Since he refuses to be part of the blog you’ll get no pictures of him or the plumbing. I did get to apply some silicone adhesive and play with the plumbers putty
