Homegrown Patio Art

I wanted to share my fun idea of artwork from the yard today.  Check out the new rustic piece behind the patio chair.

Earlier this spring, when we were cutting  trees, there was one tree in particular that had a lot of ivy growth on the trunk of it.  As we were breaking down the trees for firewood I decided to save the ivy piece because it looked so cool.  I cut off all of the leaves and tried trimming the piece to use on our mantel indoors.   However, the ivy vine was too bulky and rolled off the mantel.  It spent the next couple of months drying out inside next to our wood stove.  I wasn’t sure if it should be used as kindling or if I could find it a better home.  Then the idea of adding this to the patio dawned on me.

I have to admit, I think this is a pretty funky piece of artwork made by mother nature.  And just think of the fun I’ll have this holiday season when I decorate it with lights or ornaments… ok, I’m getting  way ahead of myself!  But still, I can’t help but get giddy when I think of my new Charlie Brown porch tree!
