Happy Friday! I’m thrilled to say the edamame in our garden is doing great! Edamame loves hot weather and these last couple of 90 degree days are sure to have us boiling some fresh pods soon. I still say edamame is my favorite garden crop. It is so much better than anything you’d buy frozen from oversees.
The pumpkins have also flowered bringing some hope that we might have a fall crop. That is if those pesky chipmunks don’t decide to eat them.
The chipmunks devoured the second attempt at brussels sprouts so we definitely won’t be having any of those this year. Mishu has been pretending to be on full chipmunk patrol but I know she is really only looking for her moment in the spotlight…
The most confusing thing this year is how our row of hydrangea flowers haven’t really blossomed yet. At this time last year they were bursting with color.
There are baby flowers starting to form but they aren’t like the other hydrangea plant in our yard or in the neighborhood. Maybe these guys are just waiting for the heat wave to end?
I’m not sure what we’ll be up to this weekend because of the heat that will continue through Saturday. I suppose it’s time to give the house a good scrubbing and find an indoor project where we can enjoy the air conditioning. Have a great weekend everyone!
