Friday Garden Update

The highlight of this week’s garden update is the edamame.  Finally we have something edible in the garden!  In case you haven’t heard me say this before, edamame is my favorite garden vegetable or legume…  or oilseed? I had to do a quick search to find out what it was.  According to Wikipedia – “The plant is classed as an oilseed rather than a pulse (legume) by the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO).”   Hmmm… interesting.  I’m going to put it into the category of delicious!

When it’s fresh it cooks up with more of a crunch.  And the water doesn’t turn a bubbly brown like it does when you boil the frozen stuff.

I’ve changed my mind about the stepping stones.  I no longer think they are completely silly like I did here. They are very convenient and I think I’ve gotten used to the look of them.

I’m also happy to report that the other hydrangea plants have blossomed into a beautiful blue.

These plants have the cutest little flowers. Don’t you agree?

The topsy turvy tomatoes have gone a little crazy on the back deck.

We have some signs of fruit…

But the tomatoes are still green, green, green.  Maybe next week?
