Cinnamon Stick Candle

I was really pumped to make the cinnamon stick wreath I shared earlier here.  It looked really easy at first.

But after buying a TON of cinnamon sticks both at Target and Christmas Tree Shop, I realized that this wreath required 6 inch long sticks and mine were much shorter.

My mother-in-law came up with a great idea though. She said to glue them onto candles. Then when the candles burn, our house should smell like cinnamon!

So, being the lazy person that I am, I first tried to tuck the sticks into the hurricane glasses that I had.  No deal.

Since that lazy idea was a failure, I got out the hot glue gun.  On my first attempt I tried using the natural seams in the cinnamon sticks to fill with hot glue and then tried to press the sticks onto the candle.

Wah wah…  It didn’t take long for them to fall off the candle.

On my second attempt, I applied hot glue to the rounded side of the cinnamon stick and it worked!  I tied a string around the candle when I was done just to make sure none of the sticks would fall off.

It turned out to be a pretty good use of the cinnamon sticks.  The house does smell like cinnamon now and I love that!

Maybe next year I’ll make the cinnamon wreath.  That should give me enough time to find the right length cinnamon sticks!
