This weekend turned out to be humid and rainy. It was far from the cool sunny weather that we’ve been spoiled with the past couple of weekends. As a result, we didn’t get to continue staining the house. But, we did take off the shutters!
I’d been itching to do something with the shutters for a long time as first seen last winter when I painted them black here. And after Hurricane Irene ripped one of them off the house here, I wanted to take them all down. With the stain project partly underway, we needed to take them off to stain because they were nailed onto the house.
Since the front of the house gets full sun and since it has been so long since the house was last stained, the difference in color is pretty noticeable. This is more motivation to keep staining because we can’t leave our house looking like this!
They left quite a mess on the house.
I took the time to apply some of the Cabot cleaner to the house where the shutters were and then gave it a good hose down. So the house is looking a little cleaner but you can still see where the shutters were.
Think we’ve decided that they house looks better without shutters so we have no immediate plans to put them back up after we finish staining. But, I make no promises!
I hope everyone had a good weekend!
