Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween! I wish I could share with you the makings of this lawn creature!

But I can’t because it’s not ours.  It was one of the crazy lawn decorations that we saw years ago in Napa Valley.

I did carve two of our pumpkins though!  I decided to carve one store-bought pumpkin and one from the garden.

The insides of the garden pumpkin were very different from the one we bought.  The pumpkin was very dense.

Even the seeds were different.  The store bought one had larger thicker seeds. The smaller seeds are from the garden pumpkin.

The seeds taste very different.  But both are delicious!

As usual, I got a little lazy when it came to carving the pumpkins and whipped out the drill. One of these years I’m going to remember to pick up a pumpkin carving knife like I had when I was a kid.  I think they help make carving easier.

And here I am with an absolutely fake smile after Howard yelled at me to smile ten times. It’s not easy to pose and run a drill at the same time!

Now that the pumpkins are carved, the candy has been opened, and the lights are hung, we are ready for some trick-or-treaters!

I hope everyone has a safe and fun filled Halloween!
