The Burrow

We don’t have any big plans for the weekend.  I want to run a few errands, maybe look at floor tiles, and watch the Harry Potter movies. We are big fans – but not in the weird I’m going to dress up and wait for the show at midnight sort of way. With the last film just released I want to see all of the movies one more time before the final movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II arrives in the mail. (See, if we were weirdo fans we would have picked up the movie at 6 AM this morning when Target opened.) Having dedicated this weekend to more movie watching and less home improvement I think its worth while to share the Weasley’s house.

If you aren’t familiar with the Harry Potter stories go pick up the books right now… just kidding!  If you aren’t familiar with the Harry Potter stories, Ron Weasley is Harry Potter’s best friend.  Ron’s comes from a large family without much money.  But his home is charming in the way that only a house with some history can be.  And the structural strength of the house comes from magic charms and not a good truss system.

Like any good house, the kitchen at the Weasley’s house is the heart of the home.

The living room proudly displays the children’s artwork and has a lived in look where any guest would feel comfortable.

And the bedrooms may not be practical, but they are simply magical!

There is something about the Weasley’s house that keeps me grounded.  It reminds me what is really important about a home.  It’s about family and love and sharing lives together. It reminds me that our house doesn’t need to be a palace or impress others.  Its a place where we want to kick our shoes off and relax!

What are you doing this weekend?  Anything fun? I hope everyone has a great weekend!

(I’m giving Warner Bros credit for the photos even though they came from other sites but those sites did not list their sources and I have doubts that they took their photos at the Weasleys!)
