Last weekend my headless husband planted the garden. But there isn’t much to look at. A few plants from last year survived. Only we aren’t sure what they are.
We added some pretty purple phlox to the landscaped areas in the yard. These hardy plants don’t seem bothered by the 20 degree frosty temperatures this past week.
We are starting to see signs that the bee balm and other plants are ready to make a strong comeback. I can’t wait to see how much the plants have spread out. The goal is to have a well blended landscaped yard with plants blooming at different times.
Meanwhile the forsythia is in full yellow bloom.
I was worried that it was looking long and lanky last year but it seems to be a little fuller this year. Maybe that because it’s getting more sunlight after taking down 16 trees.
The daffodils are also in full bloom just in time for Easter Sunday. We have one circle of daffodils in our woods and refer to this as the “crop circle.” We keep thinking someone’s dog must be buried there but really we are just speculating.
It makes me very happy to see that the days are getting longer and that there are buds on the trees.
I hope everyone has a nice holiday weekend! Happy Easter!
