This week’s Friday Garden Update slipped into Monday because we were busy bees last week. And then the weekend temperatures soared into the 70’s and there was no way I was going to be stuck at a computer. Besides there was lots to do outside. Like mow the lawn for the first time this year!
And the adirondack chair was moved from the garage and given a good soapy scrubbing.
The garden is starting to sprout. We’ve planted chard, peas, and spinach. As tempting as it is to plant more veggies, it is still too early in our zone 5.
In addition, we started some brussels sprouts and flower seeds indoors and are doing well.
I’m keep my fingers crossed for a good crop this year. The produce at the grocery store has not looked very good lately so it was be fantastic if we can fill our plates with some home-grown, uber fresh veggies!
In other happenings, we managed to dig out the rest of the roots from the tree that fell during Hurricane Irene. And rebuilt the stone wall that had fallen over.
And I’m happy to share the good news that my grass planting along the street is filling in. Now if only the neighbor’s landscape company would stop parking on it.
I hope everyone had a great weekend!
