Getting Our Grinch On

I don’t know if it’s the warm rainy weather or the idea of the mall that has gotten me into a holiday funk this year.  I even suggested not putting up the tree or putting it on the porch.  Luckily my idea was rejected and we put up the tree this weekend.

I tried my best to put on a fa-la-la-la-la face.

I kept the mantel simple this year allowing my new reindeer (here) to be the star.

And of course, we have a lot of ornaments in baskets and in vases.

I decided to put the gold pine cones in a basket on the coffee table instead of sprinkling them on the mantels. And the hanging pine cones from last year (here) found their way to the trash.

The two mini trees that we had bought for the front door are being kept inside on timers. I really wanted a tree in the porch so this one worked well. The trees kept blowing over in the wind when they were outside anyways.

Our stockings are hung in the family room for a change so that we can enjoy them. They look suspiciously placed over our recent mortar project (here) but the fireplace repair was a success and the bricks are staying put.

The only thing left to do is put up the outdoor lights and purchase a wreath. I pretty much cheaped out this weekend after seeing the wreath prices. I wanted to buy four wreaths for the front windows but the dollar signs were adding up in my head as was the fact that there are only two weeks left until Christmas.

Are all of your decorations up? Feel free to share a link if you’d like!
